JANUARY 8-9, 2016
Since we started in September 2014, we’ve curated women DJ events/festivals in over 8 cities, and we’re so excited to announce our event Discwoman: Mexico City, January 8-9. This event has been in the planning stages for almost a year, which has given us time to plan this great 11 DJ line up, the Discwoman family from New York and a stellar selection of women DJs and producers from Mexico this event is not to be missed.
January 8th’s event will be night filled with techno, live hardware sets from UMFANG (NYC), Volvox (NYC), Nina Sonik (MX), Demian Licht (MX), and live debut of Jenice (Zombies in Miami), MX. Our special guest will be: The Black Madonna.
We have rented out an entire hostel, in the cultural epicenter of the city, colonia Roma, which we invite all our friends to stay at for the weekend. The hostel will include some programming (talks/workshops etc) as well as being a home to our terrace party on January 9th which will boast 5 women playing more latin groove influenced electronic music, Esamipau (MX), Riobamba (NYC), BEARCAT (NYC), HD (NYC), Puma (MX).
We have worked with local Mexican booking and creative platform Derré Tidá and a percentage of profits will be benefiting a local non-profit organization, GIRE, which works for the defense of reproductive rights—including access to safe and legal abortion—for women in Mexico. Also the introduction of a new data poetic base that will visualise woman producers in Mexico and Latin America, Mucha Muchacha.

In the past year we’ve worked with over 100 women DJs/producers in New York, Philly, Boston, Puerto Rico, Detroit, Montreal and Kansas City with Seattle, Toronto and Mexico City on the horizon. Not to mention launching our booking agency dedicated representing female-identified DJs/producers. Thank you for supporting the movement and all the women involved. It has been an epic journey.
