DISCWOMAN PUERTO RICO #8: LADY LIQUID

LADY_LIQUID_1

When did you start DJing?
Well I started at the end of 2001.

First gig in Puerto Rico:
In June 23, 2002 at Ocean Park beach (Noche de san Juan).

Favorite party ever played:
That’s a hard question, but if I have to pick one should be the one that I had to open for Tiesto by 2007 at the Hiram Bithorn Coliseum.

Favorite woman DJ:
I guess Sandra collins would be my favorite woman DJ.

Best record you’ve ever bought:
It was Emerge by Fischerspooner, it was my first and it only cost me a dollar , and later on it became my lucky charm record.

How would you define the term DISCWOMAN?
When I first heard the term DISCWOMAN I thought it was a really good name, it reminded me of ‘Girls on Vinyl’- a all girl DJ party. ‘Discwoman’ is like maybe an evolution of that concept. Instead of girls, we are now women in the industry.

Do you dance when you DJ?
I can dance when I play. Sometimes I like to really concentrate and I stand still but I’m pretty sure something is moving by itself.

Can you DJ when wasted?
Yes I can play in every condition even though my hardcore days are behind me, nowadays I take it a lot more serious and dedicated.

What’s best compliment you’ve ever gotten?
Every soul that comes to me and says you’ve changed my life because of the emotions that I felt with your music.

Place you’d like to play:
Japan.

A lot! My hair is all over the place.

Can you DJ when wasted?
Yes. Of course.

What’s best compliment you’ve ever gotten?
“te quiero poner como me pone tu música”

Place you’d like to play:
For me it’s not about the place, but the people and the party itself. Specially in Puerto Rico where there isn’t a specific venue and all of them modify it’s ambience a lot.

Something you want everyone to know about you:
I’m very distracted and I also have ADHD and some dyslexia. Also, I like to share the music that I like.

A movement of real badass girls, who aren’t scared of going hard behind decks and are driven by music and nightlife.

Pet peeve when DJing:
REQUESTS.

Do you dance when you DJ?
Always. It’s more of a ‘foot tapping-head bouncing’ kind of dance.

What’s best compliment you’ve ever gotten?
I was djing at Bossa Nova one night, and someone left a note that said “You’re set was sick.” That was pretty cool.  He did disappear after leaving the note on the mixer. Where in the world is ‘The Note Writer’?

Berlin. Ibiza. México.

Something you want everyone to know about you:
I love playing and making music more than anything in the world, and I love being able to share this with people. I’m currently working on my EP, under the moniker Lola Pistola, due this summer.
