Bryn Barnett

Bryn Barnett is one of Brooklyn’s rising DJs, she’s been gradually building her name playing local parties at Bossa Nova Civic Club, Mood Ring, H0l0 etc This year with Serena Jara she launched multimedia streaming channel HEARTkORE radio which gives space to artists who they’d admire. Bryn also produces, releasing a beautiful track for this years Physically Sick comp. This mix takes on a raucous ride of breaks, garage, R&B edits and club redefining what we thought we need in a set: this is everything we need in a set. Do not sleep.

Tell us about this mix:

This mix is a snake shedding it’s skin and eating its own tail. Focus and preciseness. Stunting on your ex. Fantasies and desire. And most importantly, fun!

When did you start DJing?

I began djing the summer of 2015. Before then, I never thought about becoming a dj. But one day a good friend of mine recommended that I play with their mixing software and it’s only gone up from there. Sometimes you gotta experiment and try new things, you just never know!

First gig:

I can’t forget. It was a pretty grim and illegal basement show in Brooklyn. Most of my friends were present, Lots of love and support.

Favorite party ever played:

I can’t forget. It was a pretty grim and illegal basement show in Brooklyn. Most of my friends were present, Lots of love and support.

Fave DJ:

I don’t have a particular favorite at the moment but my sisters dj kenzohoe, dj bronZegoddess and dj jaraw are very unique & talented djs. They understand sound and music very well and never fail to shut shit down.

Fave producer:

Missy Elliot

Pet peeve when DJing:

When I’m raging on my set and the sound guy keeps telling me I have to turn it down turns it up louder

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever gotten?

“Did you know you leave sparkles behind you everywhere you go? I see them.”

Place you’d like to play:

Berghain!

Something you want everyone to know about you:
